Samsung Heir Lee Jae-Yong a SuspectSouth Korean prosecutors probing Samsung heir Lee Jae-Yong on Thursday post he being declared as a criminal suspect in the corruption scandal engrossing accused President Park Geun-Hye.

On Wednesday the prosecutors said that, chief of Samsung Electronics and the son if Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-Hee, was supposed to be investigated in link to allegations of bribery.

He is also alleged of committing an offense of bearing false witness at the time of a parliamentary hearing last month into the affair.

When being bought to the special prosecutor’s office with regards to the investigation, Lee said, "I am sorry for causing concern among the people over this incident".

Lee and his attorney were acknowledged by plenty of journalists along with dozens of protestors who were waving banners and yelling “arrest Lee immediately” and calling him a “co-culprit” in the scandal.

The probability of his attorney looking for a court warrant to officially arrest Lee was “high”, according to an unidentified investigator.

The entire scandal revolves on Park’s secret confidante Choi Soon-Sil, who is criminated of using her connection to Park to persuade topmost firms into “donating” tens of millions of dollars to two non-profit foundations that Choi earlier used as her personal ATMs.

Samsung was until now known to be the greatest contributor to the foundations. It is also alleged of discretely rendering millions of euros to Choi to bankroll her daughter’s equestrian training in Germany in a bid to curry favor.

The officials were said to argue that even though they were pressured to offer money, they sought no favors in return and therefore the payments were not a bribe. For months together, prosecutors were questioning Lee and other Samsung officials.

Once the investigation broadened on Wednesday, Lee was immediately named a criminal suspect. Presently, the prosecutors are questioning if at all Samsung bribed Choi with a subjective to win state approval for a contentious merger which it sought in 2015.

The merger of two giant Samsung group units – Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries, was sought to be a vital step in the direction to assure a peaceful 3rd generation power transfer to Lee Jae-Yong.
